Wii Fit and the [tag]Wii Balance Board[/tag] are still very popular in Japan. The game ended up third in this week’s software charts from Japan with 210,000 units sold, so that makes a total of 737,000 sold [tag]Wii Fitness[/tag] bundles since the Japanese launch.
This week Prof. Layton and Pandora’s Box for the Nintendo DS was the best selling game in Japan, but on the second spot is Nintendo’s Wii Fitness game with over 260,000 [tag]Wii Balance Board[/tag] bundle sold. Too bad it’s not the best selling game of the week, but a second place is nice as well! We’re sure that [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] will be in the software charts for next week as well!

Wii Fit is the top sold game on December first on Amazon Japan so this game is beating all other entries in the video game category. Let’s hope that these sales continue for a few weeks because [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] deserves nice sales numbers!
[tag]Nintendo[/tag]’s Wii Fit is still selling great in Japan and there were long lines of people waiting to pick up their Wii Fit copy and Wii Balance Board bundle. Siliconera reports that there was a mini event for the [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] launch in Bic Camera in Shinjuku. There was a single playable demo and everyone who wanted to play had to take off their shoes and the store staff put a sanitary cover over the Wii Balance Board for security reasons.
[tag]Wii Fit[/tag] is selling very fast in Japan and some gamejournalists got their hands on the Wii Fit bundle with the Wii Balance Board. The Japanese gamemagazine Famitsu did a nice report on the launchday of [tag]Wii Fitness[/tag] with pictures of the launch. Nsider2 took the time to pick up one of the first Wii Fit games with Balance Board as well and they took some time to answer a few questions and took a few shots of their nice bundle.
Some Japanese gameshops were affraid that [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] wouldn’t be the success Nintendo planned it to be, but a lot of Japanese gamers went out to pick up their copy of [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] and the [tag]Wii Balance Board[/tag]. We can see launch pictures showing long lines of people waiting to get their feet on [tag]Wii Fitness[/tag]. Stores are out of copies so the launch in Japan is certainly a huge success.
We’ve already reported that [tag]Nintendo[/tag] is running a lot of Wii Fit TV commercials in Japan, but they’re doing promotion for this game in many ways. There’s even a fancy [tag]Wii[/tag] car with Wii Fit advertisements on it driving around in Japan. Their promotion work is going great since [tag]Wii Fit[/tag] is selling great in Japan.
