More gamesites had the chance to put their feet on Nintendo’s Wii Balance Board. Using the pressure sensitive board they played the funkiest minigames and did the healthiest Step Aerobic exercises in the E3 2007 WiiFit techdemo. Kotaku shot some pictures of the Wii Balance Board and if you ask us, the thing looks strong enough to carry a whole lot of weight. It’s bigger than you’d think and it looks really steady. Looks like we’ll have to put 4 AA batteries in the Wii Balance Board since the board is completely wireless. Read the rest of this entry »

IGN had the chance to check out WiiFit and the Wii Balance Board at E3 and off course they shot some footage from the WiiFit ‘feet-on’. Female Wii Fitness players should watch these two videos definitely since the game is being played by a girl who tells about her WiiFit experiences. In all those other videos there’s only men who try out the game but instead of going to the gym to workout female players will soon stay inhouse to do some fitness as well! More Wii Balance Board games in the future

July 14th, 2007 by admin

Nintendo, WiiFit, WiiFat, WiiHealthy, Wii Health Pack, Shigeru Miyamoto, Wii Balance Board

WiiFit was Nintendo’s biggest title at this year’s E3 and the coolest accessory they showed off is the pressure-sensitive floor pad with sensors in it called the Wii Balance Board. This peripheral won’t be used for WiiFit alone, but there are many other applications for the Wii Balance Board.

Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of WiiFit and WiiSports, said at E3 that there will be many other applications for the peripheral in the future. Third party developers asked him if they could use the Wii Balance Board for their games in the future and he said that they are free to use the controller for creating their own ideas. Games like Tony Hawk, SSX, 1080°, Super Monkey Ball and many other titles could use the Wii Balance Board controller to make the games more active and healthier.

Medical experts showed their interest in the peripheral as well. WiiSports is being used by several hospitals as well, but since WiiFit is specifically made for losing weight and working out there are tons of new opportunities for doctors to help their patients get fit.

Petition: Help Reggie Fils-Aime lose weight!

July 12th, 2007 by admin

Digg! With this article and the online petition we want to convince Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, that he has to lose some weight by playing healthy games on the Nintendo Wii! Every Wii-gamer can help to convince him by signing the petition.

Why do we need to convince him?

During the Nintendo E3 2007 Media and Business Summit press conference Shigeru Miyamoto and his translator Japanse/English Bill Trinen called the Regginator on stage to do a WiiFit demonstration. Reggie walked to the Wii Balance Board with a smile and said ‘My body is ready‘. When they had to select which type of clothing he was wearing, Reggie quickly replied ‘Heavly clothing, heavy clothing!’, but he wasn’t dressed that heavy. Anyway, Shigeru Miyamoto picked ‘Light clothing’ and then Reggie wanted to give away his wallet. He did anything he could to make himself look as light as possible.

He denies that he’s a bit overweight

Shigeru and Bill gave some more info on the game and then came the moment that the game calculated Reggie’s BMI (Body Mass Index). The graph went up and Reggie said ‘Oh no, no, no!’ but everyone in the public saw that his BMI was at 27,51 which is 5,21 higher than the normal BMI of an adult man! His excuse for his high BMI was that ‘muscle is heavier than fat’. Then Reggie and Shigeru Miyamoto did a head-to-head soccerheading competition in WiiFit. Reggie is an asskicker so off course he won the game from mister Miyamoto but let’s not forget that Fils-Aime has a way too high BMI!

Because we love Reggie for his work at Nintendo of America we want to convince him that he has to stay in shape so that he can give us more superb press conferences and cool games in the future. That’s why we’ve made an online petition that everyone can sign and where you can leave a supportive message for Reggie to convince him to work out with his Nintendo Wii. We’re sure he has a Nintendo Wii at home and at his office but apparantely he’s not using it! He has to make time for his health and by signing the petition we can stimulate him to exercise by playing WiiSports and WiiFit.

How can I help Reggie?

We’re sure that Reggie checks our site every now and then since the frontpage of WiiHealthy was shown during Nintendo’s E3 press conference! We need your help to convince Reggie to play more healthy Wii-games. When we have a whole bunch of signatures and supportive messages for Reggie we will send him an email with the petition.

It’s important to spread the word to other gamers by placing a banner or a link in your forumsignature or telling a friend about it. It doesn’t matter how, just make sure that we have as many signatures as possible! Every signature counts and helps Reggie getting fitter.

Nintendo announces WiiFit during E3 2007 press conference

July 11th, 2007 by admin

During its press conference at E3 2007 in Santa Monica Nintendo showed WiiFit for the first time. This game comes with a new sort of accessory that looks like a dancemat. The game will off course use Mii’s to make it all a little cuter and it looks like this will be another good piece of software to keep your body and spirit healthy. The game will not only allow you to lose weight on a fun, easy and social way, but it’s also the perfect way to train your muscles.

The WiiFit board will measure your weight and it will register your balance status. It will also be used for a new interface in games to use your full body weight. It’s wireless so you can use it from anywhere in the room. The design of the board is really nice in Wii style and it looks really thin. Reggie Fils-Aime from Nintendo of America took off his shoes and tried the new WiiFit board out. You won’t have to wear a training outfit to play the game, because you’ll be able to say whether or not you’re wearing heavy clothing. In no time you’ll be Hula Hooping, doing soccer headbutts and many other minigames that will make you fit. There will be tons of interesting minigames with the use of the floor pad that comes with the game. On screen calibration for the WiiRemote shows if you are doing the exercises right.

In total WiiFit will contain four genres: conditioning, poses, mini-games and aerobics. For dancegames you’ll see footstep pictures in the middel of the screen that the player has to follow on the WiiFit board. The board will be used as well for step aerobics and all kinds of other aerobic exercises that will keep you in shape.

During the conference mister Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggie Fils-Aime faced each other in a game of soccer on the WiiFit board. Reggie Fils-Aime was kicking Shigeru’s ass in the game, but both were clearly enjoying it and moving around. The game will give very detailed information on your body weight, your balance and the game will calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) and calculate the progress.

Right now we don’t have much info since the conference has just ended, but when the conference is done we will have more new info on the game here at WiiHealthy, the perfect place to lose weight and exercise by playing on Nintendo’s Wii.

Face Training on the Nintendo DS

July 4th, 2007 by admin

Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DS Camera, Face Training, Otona No DS Kao Training

Nintendo announced today that it will release Otona No DS Kao Training on August 2 for 4800 yen in Japan. Another training game, but not an ordinary one because this videogame will train… your face! This is a game for women who like a healthy and elastic skin. Fumiko Inudo, a facening expert in Japan, will be ‘the face’ of this game and is absolutely sure that this game will make your face and skin healthier by exercising it. The game comes with a neat camera that you have to plug into the Game Boy Advance Cartridge slot so that the NDS can see if you’re using your facemuscles right. Let’s hope it will come out in America, but we think that they will keep this pretty odd game ‘Japan Only’. The game is in development with Intelligent Systems, the Fire Emblem studio.
